Question about washing fabric.

Do you have issues with fabric colors bleeding into each other? I have been afraid to wash colored fabrics together that they might bleed into each other. Has any one had a porblem with this? Or do I not need ot be so concerned with it?

I use Shout Colour Catchers. They work great, and I have had no problem with bleeding. If the catchers come out very dark, I wash again with a new one. I haven't had to wash very much a second time, and haven't had to use the catchers after that.

I've always washed dark colors together & light colors together & have not had a problem yet. I would not pack fabric too tightly in the washer & don't let them sit wet touching each other when washer stops.

For dark fabrics I run a swatch of it under real hot water to see if it bleeds or not. They usually don't or you can buy products at quilting shops like another reader suggested and keep the fabric from bleeding after it is washed.

I use the Shout Color Catchers also.

I use Shout Color Catchers as well. They work great! Now I don't worry about a red fabric getting put in with whites by accident.

I use these, too.

Shout color catchers are the best things. They work great.

I use color catchers but also if colors do happen to bleed onto something else I wash the bleeder again and again until it stops bleeding (a couple of handsful of table salt will usually stop it) and I use both fabrics anyway. With all of todays batiks and blenders once that fabric is in a quilt you can't tell that it wasn't made that way.

I use the Color Catchers, too. But I still wash colors together, especially reds and batiks.
