Washing Minky - oops
I used minky for the backing of several baby blankets and never gave a thought as to how it needs to be washed. Has anyone had issues with washing it in warm water (I I don't want to un-quilt the blankets but I don't want the minky to stiffen either. Not sure this is practical for a baby quilt.
Here is what I found online about washing minky:

I’m not sure where you found your info online, but I use minky and treat it just like I do my other fabrics. I prewash everything except the batting, and once the quilt is complete, I wash it again in warm water and yes put it in the dryer until damp dry, then lay flat until completely dry.

I machine wash cool, tumble dry low. Never had a problem.
|
I also just throw it in the washer and dryer, regular deetergent, fabric solftener. Warm wash normal, regular dry.
|
I've not had trouble washing and drying (on low ) minky on the front/ and or back of the baby quilts I've made.
The fluffier, or more plush minky may ask you to Hang to Dry. What I do is make a Test Quilt sand-which and give it a Test Run through the wash and Dryer. So Far I've not had any trouble. |
I wash everything in cold water using cold water tide. Dry in dryer on cool, most times.
No trouble so far. backings are always soft. |
I did a search on line on how to wash Minky and turned up the instructions. I am doing to wash it and see how it does - I assume baby quilts get washed in warm water as a minimum.
