Having lived in Africa your title got my attention! Could you elaborate on the pattern? Is it applique? panels? did you purchase it in Africa? make it there? It is a beautiful quilt. Tia.

What an appealing quilt! I love the colors and the layout. Did the fabrics come from Africa? Those spiral suns on the bottom look like some of the African fabrics I have seen.

Thank you all. The pattern is called By Way of Africa. It was in Quilter's World magazine, Autumn 2013. The actual pattern had a row of a drum applique which I didn't like so used the African Queen Block that someone had shown on the quilting board April 19, 2014! The giraffes and suns are raw edge applique that I'd used an iron-on web. I used batiks through the whole quilt and then had minky as the backing without batting. It's so cozy that it might just stay in our house. Sorry that I didn't include this info with the original posting, I'll try better next time!

This is fabulous! I love the blocks of the women. I'm sure I have that issue, so I will have to look it up. Thanks for the info.
