Thanks, Bear, for the visual aid! I like the 2nd (basketweave) too.

Thanks ...it started out using black grey and white, then I threw in blue....a real scrappy mishmash.
My question is....now to sew them into rows and I don't know weather to line the borders straight as in photo one or stagger them (basketweave ) as in #2,

Both photos look the same to me.....to stagger I would think a half plain gray block top and bottom of every other row....

Bears visual is so clear.....I vote #2, basketweave

I'm so impressed! With the beautiful blocks and the visual aids. Sewnoma's observation is very interesting about focus on the blocks vs the pattern.

I'm with everyone else, I like your second picture. It will be a beautiful quilt.

I couldn't see a real difference or understand your question at first, but now that I do, I'm with the majority on basketweave.

Thanks for all the response, special thanks for the amazing drawings, I will basketweave them.

Since all of your block sashing is the same color(gray)- except the few white blocks----I personally don't see how basket weave would be effective. As in the visuals, if the sashes were of different colors, then that design element would be more noticeable. Jmho
