First congrats on the addition to the family. Different brand name but ours was first day putting it together second day training. That seems like a long time all day training but it goes by fast and and a little tiring. Have everyone there that will be using the machine, husband, best friend that helps later when tring to remember something they said. LOL Then later youtube and manuals do the rest.

How exciting!!!! Pretty soon now. Do you have a name selected??

My DH says we are going to call her "The Bankrupter"

mckwilter 06-05-2015 08:17 AM

I had a friend whose DH gifted her with a Maine Coon cat. She named him Benjamin, because of all the money they paid for him. I guess you could see whose picture is on the $1,000 bill.

HAHAHA Yeah I can imagine. You will love it. Buy some cheater cloth to practice with. You can always donate it to pet shelters. Have fun and congrats!

Congratulations is your husband also doing the training with you? I was just wondering if you could possibly video the training session so that you could refer back to it if needed, if you are overwhelmed by all the information you will have the video to always look back on! Just a thought, good luck with your purchase.

#1piecemaker 06-06-2015 05:06 AM

My husband will attend the training with me. While I get the hands on, he will be observing and taking notes.

Wow, that is a long labor, hope the wait isn't real painful. Congrats on the new addition, enjoy and create a lot of beautiful things with it.

Oh boy! so exciting! Two of the most important "first things"--how to load and how to adjust tension. My biggest hang up when I got my Gammill was changing tension on the bobbin--I'd been trained with a DSM NEVER to change bobbin tension so was very afraid I'd screw it up! Be sure they show you how to check bobbin tension without a Towa gauge, although I find that using my Towa with each bobbin makes for lots less hassles. A friend gave me some excellent advice--get a large piece and just quilt to your hearts content--don't worry about design, just go nuts with quilting--you can always use it as a picnic quilt and the 40lbs of thread in it will keep it from blowing away!

thanks for the tips. I know we will need all the advice we can get. I already have some dumpy fabric that I don't like that we can practice on. The tension part makes me nervous, but too late now to worry about that.
