There is an interesting technique in this month's Quilter's World magazine. You make your strips into tubes and iron them flat, then weave and mount on fusible backing. The example is a pencil case, something I would not sew in a million years, although I'd love to have one. The technique is a good one. I think I'll try it! I was a weaver before I was a quilter!

I have seen this done before. They used flannel as a backing and no batting. They turned out very cute :D:D:D

I did this a while ago for a table runner, used no batting and no fusible, because the weave was so tight that it didn't come undone. So silly me, sold it before I took a picture.
