Wedding Gifts - ideas please

I have two upcoming weddings that I would like to make gifts for. I want to make something small-ish. I don't know the couples very well and will definitely check their registry to try to get an idea of colors they like. In the past I've made placemats, afghans and casserole carriers. Afghans are out for these upcoming weddings as I know the brides' grandmother makes those for them.

What I'm seriously considering is a Storm at Sea heart wall hanging. I posted a picture of one I made recently for myself. I like it so much and it went together fairly quickly.

I would appreciate your thoughts.

Thank you!

I like to make holiday table runners and placemats. It gives the new couple some seasonal items to start their life together with. I have found that a lot of couples don't have these sorts of things and sometimes not the money for such "extras".

I agree with Watson.

I like Watson's idea for holiday ideas.
Gift cards are impersonal but welcome since they can get what they need/want.
Since you mentioned you don't know they couples very well, I'd pass and have passed, on a wall hanging. Would they have a place for it? Fit into their décor? ...and you'd be putting so much work into the w/h.
Mug rugs with cute coffee mugs and a poem what the rug are for could be a fun novelty gift.
You may get some great ideas when you can see their registry. Good luck.

When I do not know very well the people involved, I tend to go the gift card or " easilyy exchanged" route.

Place mats are a nice idea. Probably useful,, but would not be a huge investment in materials and time.

Nesting sewn baskets or a coiled basket rug?

Money or gift cards are my go to gifts.

I love Watson's idea. Don't just limit it to Christmas. Think Halloween, Easter. Summer flowers and other wintery themes. Your Storm at Sea idea is also a great idea.

Seasonal placemats are a nice idea.

I think that would be an awesome gift. Maybe their names and marriage date embroidered someplace on it
