Try the Rings That Bind by Cheryl Phillips of Phillips Arts she is in Colo. I used her book and the templates that come with the book and made one for my daughter several years ago. You make strips and sew them together then cut them out using the template with the book. A lot easier than cutting all of the small pieces. I most likely won't make another one, as that isn't my favorite pattern. The quilt turned out fine, but was time consuming, especially since I was working full time and trying to make the quilt for a Christmas gift as well.

True True, it took me 15 months to make my daughter's and I don't plan to make another one!! I must say I was working full time and trying to get her quilt done too.

Judy Martin has a marvy wedding ring quilt pattern called "Monet's Wedding Ring". No curved piecing! I made it with stark white background and bright batiks in the rings. Black, white and red would be awesome!

I always wanted to make a double wedding ring quilt so when it was offered at the LQS, I jumped at the chance. The pieces were even pre-cut for me -- yay !!

A year and a half later, it's still sitting in the BOM project box. Not because I didn't have the time.....it's very tedious work. It will eventually get done but not on the top of my "to-do" list.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone short of intermediate skills. But they are gorgeous quilts.

You might want to do the Elenore Burns method of making a double wedding ring quilt. It is fast and easy and not a single curve. I made one and my friend made a king size they came out beautiful and in a lot less time then the traditional way of trying to get the melons to fit correctly. Have fun.

I used Marty Mitchell temp plates and had no trouble, they are time consuming took me a year and a half to make a DWR for my DGD's wedding made a king size.

i did the Quiltsmart pattern it was time consuming but way easyer than the traditional method i did a large queen size thats a big project. but it was a fun quilt to make and much easyer than it looks

made mine with a single arc in very pretty print. It turned out great! If you don't mind curves, go for it. The new plastic template sets are worth the cost.........

they've removed part 2. as usual.

essentially, they cut a circle the size they wanted. they cut the arches from the strata as shown. they batted the circle and backed it with co-ordinating fabric. they turned it rightside out. they turned under the seam allowance of the arches, on both edges. they pinned the arches to the circles, through all the layers. they then marked a square on the circles, with the points of the square touching the circle. then they pinned where the four points are. they attached two circles together back to back so that the pains matched up. the flaps of the circles were stitched down with plain or decorative stitches. onto the next one. it was sort of stitch and flip.

i hope i explained it so that you could understand it. if not i'll sketch (ha!) it.
