Weighted quilts

I have an autistic grandson who is calmed and sleeps well under weighted covers - even a body-sized stuffed dog. I once heard about plastic beads that were used for Weighted Quilts. I'd appreciate any information about it. Thanks.

if you go to Advanced Search to the right in the menu bar at the top, and type in weighted blankets, many many threads will come up from past discussions. Hope that helps.

Hi Connie:

The board just had a big discussion with lots of good info here:
http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...e-t186999.html

I've made one for my GD and I know several other board members have made them for relatives and for project Linus.

Good luck.

I am the one that just asked recently. I made one for my daughter out of the pellets that are used for doll making. I found mine at Hobby Lobby for $4 a 1lb bag. She has used it since. I am not sure how calming it is to her but she will use it will watching TV and at night.

Kmart has a large bag of plastic beads. I bought it to replace the "beads" in a bean bag for my GS. It is a clear bag and you can see what you are getting. I believe it was like $11 or $14 and it is larger then a bed pillow. I suggest checking it out.
