So, I just ordered a bunch of flannel from Fabric.com for a rag quilt I'm going to make for my friend's son. I just received the package, and one of the fabrics I ordered, from the Benartex Quilter's Suede line, does NOT seem to be flannel. It looks and feels just like regular cotton. This is the fabric: http://www.fabric.com/quilting-fabri...eriwinkle.aspx

I thought maybe Fabric.com wasn't correct and had mislabeled the fabric online as a flannel, but I Googled it, and EVERYPLACE says it's flannel. They definitely sent the right fabric; it says right on the selvage, "Quilter's Suede by Benartex."

I am SO confused! I tried to call Fabric.com, but they're closed for the day.

Has anyone ever worked with this fabric before? I feel like I'm losing my mind -- am I really so clueless I can't tell flannel from plain old cotton fabric?! (DH confirms that it doesn't seem like flannel to him, either.)

I just got my Quilter's Suede fabric today in light cream from Fabric.com. It is definitely flannel, but it doesn't have anything written in the selvage.

Is it possible that part of the Benartex line is just a 100% cotton suede look, but not a flannel fabric? When I did a little internet searching on Quilter's Suede some sites had flannel fabric written in the description and some sites just had Quilter's Suede listed as 100% cotton fabric and not listed as a flannel fabric. So maybe you did get the wrong fabric?

Hope this helps, Maribeth

I think I figured out the issue ... there's Quilter's Suede, and there's Quilter's Suede Flannel -- two different fabrics, both with the same suede-looking print. What I got is the former, but Fabric.com mistakenly had it listed as the latter.

I would call them tomorrow and let them know they made a mistake in their description and request that they send you the flannel version since it was their mistake  I bet they will appreciate you bringing this to their attention and they will be happy to correct their mistake with you and send you the correct fabric :D

Anyone can make a mistake, and I agree they would be glad to be able to correct an uncorrect listing! :?

that manufacturer often makes the same line in both cotton and flannel - you must have been shipped the cotton line my mistake.

Called them this morning, and they were very nice! I get to keep the fabric (it was only half a yard), and they're refunding the money for it :)
