Yikes! That would drive me nuts not knowing. My husband thinks its no big deal and to roll with the original design, that my first quilt should have those mistakes so I can look back on them. LOL

I don't buy precuts for that reason. I'm very picky about every block being perfect, the precuts I purchased from a LQS were not all 5", some were larger and some were smaller . I found jelly rolls have the same problem. I sold them at a yard sale and now cut my own. I guess if your not fussy precuts are fine. I have seen quilters at retreats that use all precuts but they don't really care if the rows are perfect.

I really do have this idea that a package of pre-cuts should ALL be the size stated and the same size!

From what I've been reading, apparently many of them are not "as stated" or "as expected."

They really should be the size stated, but if I had known before hand I wouldn't have minded cutting some off to even it out, I don't like that some are smaller though, seems like a waste, especially when there is only one of some of the patterns.

I have a few that are definitely smaller that 10x10. :/ Ah well, I'll just measure them all and trim to the smallest size next time I guess. I really don't like cutting yardage with the rotary tools. Its different with patterns I can pin and cut with scissors, but my table is not very large and the fabric is always in the way or dead weight off my table. Guess I could cut fat quarters off it and then cut. It's just I sew other things too and I don't want to chop up all my yards in case. Lol

Sashings and borders are the great equalizers of the quilting world. If something is too small just add a wider border or some sashing. All my quilts are different sizes because I rarely use a pattern and decide on the width of the border based on how much fabric I have and what looks best.

I have never used precuts so appreciate the heads up on sizing issue.

Sorry you're having this problem, pre-cuts have been famous for this for a while now. On today's Missouri Star Quilt Company Friday video, Jenny Doan shows how she deals with this problem (at the 1:58 mark). I've been doing it this way for a long time, it works as long as there's not a great big difference in the size.

And to think that you pay MORE for precut squares which are NOT square in the first place. What a rip off.

It is very frustrating buying pre cuts only to learn that the company did not measure the cuts when they came back from "shrilanka". Same problem with Hoffman Bali jelly rolls. I contacted Hoffman, and they made it right and told me they now have all of their precuts done by laser. Measure before sewing.

It's another thing learning - after a lot of effort was put out by me - that I purchased **** material! and the problem was NOT caused by me! (I'm usually very cranky about if after I finally figure out what the problem was!)

That's very true. I did see that MSQ video last night, I guess my pattern just doesn't lend itself to it being off a bit because everything aligns vertically and horizontally with huge solid (well patterned) blocks of color. It would be off a bit no matter what I did at this point. I think it would have been more forgiving if it was a cut and pieced block. Oh well! I'll just continue on and remember for next time. I do like that you get a variety of matching fabric lines in the precuts, that's super handy I have to admit. I could never afford all that variety if I just went in my LQS and ordered up. LOL
