Well I did it-bought a sitdown Tiara III

It's quiet and smooth-- I love the stitches. It has a low bobbin reminder, the tension you are at is listed right on the screen and even a stitch count. Very easy to use and only one spot to oil. The larger Bobbin is very close to the front so you don't have to move your quilt if you run out. Separate bobbin winder was included. LOVE IT- LOVE IT. Hubby was so nice to do this for me. This was a stretch for us but he said he wanted me to have it as he knows I do about 15 quilts per year. (lots of donations) Life is good!!

You'll love it. The Tiara is very similar to my Sweet Sixteen. I've been able to finish a lot more quilts and my FMQ is improving. Do you have the stitch regulator? I find it helpful but decided to be brave and did the last quilt without. It turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. Congratulations and you have a wonderful hubby.

I just bought a Tiara II. DIDNT KNOW THEY HAD A III. I had a time with getting the tension just right. Now I have a problem with the bobbin or bobbin case. It keeps sticking. I'll be taking it in for repair this coming week. Can't wait to get it running like it should. Good luck with yours.

lynnie 01-01-2016 07:08 PM

good for you, I'm happy you treated yourself well!

jmoore 01-02-2016 03:59 AM

how exciting! If you're like me, my head would be spinning... reading the manual... wanting to play on it and then figuring out which quilt top to FMQ first (I have two that need quilting). Have a ball....

I got a great tip from the dealer (I have the Tiara II also). On their website they say the bobbin should stand up in your hand but you shouldn't be able to pull it up off your palm. That was waaaaaaaaay too loose for the thread I was using: Superior Bottom Line. The dealer said to try tightening the bobbin case until you could suspend it in mid-air, then with a slight bounce of your wrist, it should drop about an inch or so. It worked perfect! I could even use a different color in the top and back, with no pokies.

You will love your machine. I have so much more freedom to FMQ and enjoy experimenting with different fillers now. My previous machine only had a 6 1/2" throat !

Congratulations, sounds like it has many wonderful features. Love the idea of a bobbin indicator. Enjoy your new machine.
