I use starch and 505 and haven't had a problem.

i use starch and whatever brand of basting spray they sell at walmart. never a problem on cotton batting.

it's a waste of time on poly.

I believe you just use liquid or powdered starch and make your own solution? I use the liquid and dilute it by 1/2.

I wondered about that Patrice but 2 things:
1.)the backing and batting are firmly stuck.
2.) I used Quilter's Dream Orient which is silk, bamboo, Tencel (?) and cotton.

I have never had a problem with spray adhesive sticking when I use starch, but I have found that with June Tailor I need to really spray the pieces and then when I think I have enough, I spray again!

The only spray that I don't have to use a lot of to be successful is Sullivan's and that stuff has a terrible odor and sprays in a cloud. It leaves a fog in the room. I don't use it unless I have to.

Good luck!

I just basted a quilt today that was starched (homemade)and used the June Taylor spray with no problem at all. Must be something else?
