And most important...is it suitable for quilts? I have seen this on line in 44" widths and have often wondered about it...Donna

If it is what I think it is, It is lighter wt fabric than most quilting fabric. It makes beautiful quilt and usually in colors for a man's shirt or quilt.

I find it too thin to use for quilting, but it makes some really handsome shirts for your handsome men.

Here is a link to a beautiful shirt quilt someone posted recently.

I made a memory quilt for a friend when her Dad passed away for her Mom. I had never seen a quilt made from men's shirts before and liked the look.

They sell cotton shirtings on many sites and in QS's that are LQS quality and are reproductions from vintage quilts. They are perfectly suitable/desirable for todays quilting and are specifically made for quilting quality. They are used in reproduction style quilts with other fabrics reproduced from a certain era. Of course you can also use them in any other type quilt you desire.

As others have mentioned using men's shirts are also a very exceptable method of using shirting.
