I'm soooo excited. I got a full sized Hawaiian quilt pattern called Sunflower. I have to decide the colors to make it.
Also got fabric and a hopping foot for stippling. 'Course, I had a lot to do with the Christmas list. Ya think blue and yellow would look pretty?

I got so many quilty things that I am embarassed. Fabric. From DH - 2 Carol Doak paper piecing books, a Judy Martin book, an Eleanor Burns book, and a B & D iron. From DD2 - Scraps (Judy Martin), A Civil War Diary and a book on quilting tips and techniques. From DSisIL, a gift certificate from my favorite LQS in Oklahoma City, and a quilting reference book. It is not right to be so blessed!!

I got 2 books... Bullfrogs and Butterflies by Pat Sloan.. and a book of patterns for kiddie quilts (it is in the other room now)... I have 2 others on the way... Hook on Charms and Hooked on Charms 2.. Poor DH, paid for 3 day shipping.. they shipped on the 18th and were received and scanned for deliver on the 20th but never made it here. He will be calling the retailer tomorrow. He was more upset than me! He also gave me a large box of fabrics... mostly Christmas prints.

The absolulte best thing I received was a quilt! My dd, who is 18, made it for me.. all on her own. She and I have made some quilts together, but she has never done one on her own. She created the pattern herself... it is not overly complicated, but she set it on point and it is just great! It is a bright colorful quilt (just like me!) LOL! She did have it quilted at the Long Arm Quilter. I knew she was making me something and suspected it was a quilt... but seeing it was wonderful! I have already used it to curl up and watch a movie this afternoon.

No pictures of it yet... I will take some soon and post them for all to see!

Hi Norah....I'm not as advanced at quilting as a lot of you are. Can you please explain what a hopping foot is? How nice that you all got fabic and books, etc. I don't think my family would know where to begin buying quilting stuff for me. I usually tell them a gift cert to Joann's. Next year I'll have to find time to go thru and look for specific things and then give them a list.

Hi, JudyJo! :D
I just call it a hopping foot. It is called an open toe free motion or darning foot. It has a spring on it to hold the fabric down when the needle comes out and is used in place of a regular foot on the sewing machine so one can sew in any direction.
As for the family knowing what to get...... I either get it myself or they know any cotton fabric for quilting will do. Sometimes I make a detailed list and where to get it. They are all clueless when it comes to quilting lingo. That way I get what I want.

Thanks Norah, I haven't tried free motion quilting but will try it this year on some small projects. I have a plate that goes over the feeddogs on my machine for darning or free motion quilting. I'm learning all kinds of things from this site. It's wonderful! Everyone is great about sharing! Now that the GS are bigger and I'm not sewing so much for them or myself I hope to try more quilting.
