What about AFTER? Crazy Quilt Embroidery

Howdy,

I just introduced myself on the "Introduce yourself" board now I need to ask a question. I'm currently working on a crazy quilt and have the top done and most of the embroidery that I want.
I'm wondering if after I've gotten the whole quilt done (the sandwich, tying, and binding) and I see that theres a spot that I would have liked to put some embroidery, can I still do that even though the whole thing is already put together? Hope I asked this right.

I think you can do anything you want. I would just try not to go through all the layers. A crazy quilt is on my list to make. I have collected a lot of the fabric already. Too many ideas, too little time syndrome!

I agree with OCquilter. Have you done any silk ribbon embroidery? It is very easy to go through one layer for additional embellishment.

Are you embroidering by machine or hand? Some people use the open outline style embroidery designs to quilt the sandwich together in spots. If hand embroidery, you could do that as well as long as you can pop the knots through to the sandwich (much like you do for hand quilting)as you begin and end the design. If you add embroidery by hand just work it through only the top layer of the quilt.

Thanks, everybody. I'm embroidering by hand. I was thinking that it would kinda be like hand quilting but wasn't sure. Thank you!!

I have had to add stitches to some of my hand applique before. I always seem to miss a spot or two when doing a blanket stitch. You just need to find a way to hide your knots and be careful not to sew too deep. No one will know the difference when you are done.

Welcome to the board.

Your German Shepherd is magnificent. I am a GSD person too. I currently have one a female she will be 9 in April. A couple of years I ago I lost my absolute favorite and prize girl, Bella. She was a red. I miss her every day. They are really wonderful dogs.
