Tonight I thought I'd try to finish up a UFO that I started back in Dec. I decided to use some ratcheted clamps I just got a few weeks ago and clamp the backing to my dining room table. I clamped each layer together and pinned it.
Boy, what a back saver!! :-D Not only did it work, but I didn't have to get down on the floor to sandwich it! This is what it looks like. I got 4 of them at home depot in the tool dept. They run about $6 each. |
Pretty good idea. I can steal some from my dads workshop, he will never miss them.LOL
I do the same thing with extra large binder clips from the office supply store!
I have used both the clamps and large binder clips. We use the large clamps at church for all our tied quilts.
Great tip!!! :D:D:D

At Harbor Freight they have about 20 sizes of those plastic clamps. I go with hubby and buy when he does.LOL
Great tip. I'll be getting some of those. Thanks
You can use them on any shape table, just use more clamps.
I clamped down the backing, sprayed it, then layered the batting and re clamped. Then sprayed again and layered the top re reclamped again and pinned. NO WRINKLES IN THE BACK!!YAY! :D :D I got this idea from my community quilts group. That's how we do it there. |
Great idea. That's using your head.
I'm getting ready to do another one too.
I don't have a large enought workspace at home so I go the our church and use 2 tables put together in the fellowship hall. Works great.
When I started layering the batting and backing on my California King I used these. The clamps were old and broke before I was finished. I turned to my stationery drawer and took the big clips you use to hold many sheets of paper together. I also used paper tape (painters tape). All 3 things worked.

great idea, thanks for sharing!
