What batting do you like for placemats?

Is there a special type batting for placemats and table runners? Have you ever used insulbrite?

Thanks!

I use thermoline plus and iron on. It's a little heaver than regular interfacing but not to heavy. I also use it in table runners.

felt is always a good choice

Felt? Oh, that's a good idea! I've just used cotton batting.

i just used a stiff interfacing so as not to be too lumpy in some places and flat enough to hold a glass flat

I just use left over pieces of Warm and Natural. Yes, it crinkles after washing, but it lays plenty flat to hold plates, utensils, and glasses. It also lasts forever! My son still uses some placemats I made him when they got married 10 years ago.

I use any thermal batting. It is usually thinner than my normal batting and is heat resistant.

I have always used my Hobbs 80/20 scraps for placemats.

Same here. With W&N scraps, there is no need to buy anything special.

Leftovers! Seriously, I just use whatever leftover batting that I have that is the correct size.
