What is the best method to add borders using Quilt as you go method?
I want to try to try the Quilt as you go method for my quilt top. So far I have the blocks pieced into rows. I saw one video where each row is a quilt sandwich and then quilted. Next the rows are joined together without sashing. The link was candiedfabrics.com .
What I don't understand is how to add the borders, now that your quilt top is quilted. Please advise me as to how you have done this or have seen this done in a link. Many thanks for your help as always. |
I have done this and it was easy. I found a you tube video that I did not book mark but when I get to the computer I will look for it. Maybe someone will post before that. It is doable

Here it is. It really didn't cause me any problems. Can also use with other type quilts, not on QAYG turns out it wasn't a video! |
I've used the same method that Stitchnripper mentionned. Works well.

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but Just read the method Stitchnripper mentioned and it looks like something I might try on a "problem quilt." I made one for our bed and love it. Since our 4-legged girl joins us in bed, I needed to wash it. Yup, it shrunk so now unless I am really careful, it doesn't cover the sheets. I need about 3 more inches on each side. Do you think this will work.

It will work but you will have to remove the binding and some of the quilting to attach the new border.
