What Block is This?
For quit some time now, Ihave been searching for the name of this block as well as how to construct it. I first saw it on Pinterest. It is by Desley, from Waverley, Melbourne Australia. She is a long arm quilter. The Quilt is named Cherry Chocolate and I just love it. Here is a link to the quilt http://addictedtoquilts.blogspot.com...chocolate.html

Could it be cats paw?

Have you tried emailing her? A link to her email is on her complete profile on her blog.

On her website, it shows Cherry Chocolate as being one of her original quilt designs. I couldn't find if there is a pattern available for purchase.
|
I Googled the block and found the person who pieced it. May she would answer your question. http://helenspatchworkpassion.blogspot.com/2012/12/cherry-chocolate-quilt.html

Given that there are two quilts with the same name in the same pattern ... it's possible it's a kit .... or one of them saw the other and duplicated it. The quilter is in Australia, not sure where the 2nd piecer is (she took a Tasmanian holiday so she might be "down under" as well). Both are stunning quilts. |
Doesn't look that hard to draft. Have you looked on quilter's cache? I know I have seen the star pattern somewhere. Will look tonight. The squares look easy, with just a 4 patch in each corner. Love the addicted person's colors. The darker tan really sets the colors. She has some really beautiful quilts on her site. Too bad she lives in Australia. The shipping back and forth would bankrupt me!

This looks like the Sunrise Star on McCalls website with a few modifications.
Hope this helps. :) http://www.mccallsquilting.com/qb/pa...1_3/index.html |
Thank you all for responding. I didn't realize that the longarm quilter was not the person who pieced the quilt. Thank you for the link to the person who did piece it. I have left her a message and am hoping to hear from her. I agree, I could draft the block myself (guess I am a little lazy). The McCalls Sunrise Star is a good starting point. For a little bit, I will be hoping to hear from Helenspatchworkpassion. It sure is a beautiful quilt!

That is one awesome quilt. I can see why you love it.
|
I thought I could see 2star blocks and one almost 9 patch or am I going blind. Don't answer.
Sorry 2 blocks 1 star one plain on the diagonal. |
Yes, Looks like the Sunrise Star (as posted above), but using a 4 Patch in each corner instead of a solid block. You can probably figure out the size of the strips/pieces to make that 4 patch.hat

That is beautiful.

Yes, I will definitely share whatever I learn. When I left her my message, I noticed some recent posts about a trip somewhere, so she may be on vacation.

I saw this block in a Koffman fabric add many years ago..Somewhere in my scrapbook picture file I have that add I cut from a quilt magazine. It was shown with teal and pink.. It is a beautiful block! especially set on point. It is a variation of the Sunrise Star. shown in the Link above..It may have some different names:)
|
It is a two block quilt. It's those four squares in the corners of both blocks, and her color choices especially in the simpler block, and setting it on point that make it look so complicated. It was hard for me to see the four squares in the simpler block and her color choices make them disappear.
|
Love her quilting, too. The back looks like a beautiful wholecloth!
