Watched a Kay Wood video on computer making star pattern and when she would be piecing, she would push a button and it would cut her thread at the end. What kind of machine has that feature, had not heard of that one. Anyone have this??

I have a Brother and it cuts my thread
I think any number of high end machines have an auto thread cutter. Actually my 1500 brother has it and my 400D had it (sold it). sort of miss it on my new machine.

My Pfaff has one
On my Designer 1 I have a button to push that will cut the thread, I don't use it because it cuts the bobbin thread so short that I have to open the bobbin plate to find the thread.
My Janome 6500 cuts my thread too!
My Janome 6600 does that too.
My Babylock Ellisimo does that! and more!
My Babylock Quilters Dream has one. It is wonderful after the old types.
Many machines have this feature...Bernina, Husqvarna, Babylock, Janome, Pfaff. I'm not sure what at what price point you will find this feature. All of the upper end machines have this feature.
Yes, My Husqvarna SE cuts...has a sensor foot that lifts when you take your foot off the pedal also...Love it because it makes applique stitching so easy when you need to pivot.
My Bernina 730E has it, but I don't use it. It leaves a tail about three quarters of an inch long. Not enough to darn in, and too long to leave if you are quilting, though the feature would be OK when piecing, I suppose.

I have a Elna Quilter's Dream, I absolutely LOVE the thread cutter.
I have an baby lock esante ese2 and it does that and I LOVE it!
My new Pfaff, Creative Vision does this. It's great!
You should not have toi do this. If you cut the thread and start to sew the next peice it should just be there. Have you tried it?

Me too, Janome 6600.
Kaye Wood has been in partnership with Janome for a long time. She uses their machines, they sponsor giveaways of Janomes at her seminars, they sponsor her quilting cruises, etc.
juki has the thread cutter on the foot pedal.
The Pfaff 1200 (GrandQuilter) has a cutter.
Thanks for all the answers to my question. Needless to say the high end machines with this feature is up too high for me unfortunately, but I can always wish. Guess I'll stick to my thread cutter on the side of my machine. Happy quilting to all.
I have a Janome 6500 and it has this feature. I'd be hard pressed to ever buy a machine without this feature or a knee lifter.
The Janome 11000SE, the Janome 6260QDC, the Janome Horizon, the 6600P, I think the 6300P as well.
Wouldn't buy a machine without it. I'm so spoiled. |
My machine has the tread cutter. I love it. It's the one feature I miss the most when using my older machines. I don't use the knee lift on my machine, I just can't get use to it. :?
That's my machine too, I love it!
