I have a few cones of Mara 120. It's a very good piecing thread. It is tex number 25. The 100 is tex 30. The lower the tex number the thinner the thread.

I purchased, while on sale, Simthread and just received it. The spools are a lot smaller than I expected. We'll see how it works in my machine and let you know if I like the thread. The two deal breakers in my books are: constant breaking and linty threads. I'll let you know.

I'll be interested to hear your review. Hope it works out for you. Please report back good/bad/indifferent. I think the sale price is worth at least trying it.

I know some people mention being surprised by the (small) size of the spools, many mentioning they are smaller than the people thought, but there is also no spool to speak of, so the spools are 550 yards, while the Dual Duty spools are 400. The cones of the same thread are 10x as much yards! I will warn you that the box they come in is also smaller than I expected.

Yes, the box is very small. However, when you look at the spool itself, there is no wasted space in it, no extra plastic, no printing. If we could take all the extra waste on a regular spool and just bring it down to the thread and the center just big enough to fit on the spindle, I think we would be quite surprised at how small our spools would be. Dual and Clark would look like it had very little thread it and that would be shocking, too.
