What can be used in place of fusible web?
Is there anything I can use instead of fusible web? I'm working on just a small wall hanging and it calls for fusible web...and of course I don't have any.

fabric glue- elmers glue- spray adhesive- pins, basting stitches- lots of options.

freezer paper, cut in the same shape , ironed on the back, crease over the edge of the paper, remove paper and sew on, preserving creases.

Thank you. After seeing the answers to my question, it looks like I asked a stupid one.

No question is stupid......and I've got a question too. If elmers glue is used to hole down applique pieces, does it do anything to the needle, like gum it up, when you sew over it?

Elmers washable glue does not gum up the needle. When you use it, use just tiny dots, and you need to press with a hot iron to get it to stick the fabrics together.

I'm working on an applique right now using the "starch method" I cut a template out of a cereal box and cut the fabric 1/4" bigger then starched the heck out of it and pressed it over the edges of the template, then pull out the template and press it really flat, just cause I can :) it's working out really well. First time I've successfully appliqued anything without fusible webbing

Use glue. Elmer's glue is good. If you have spray glue or re-positional post -it glue. I use good old white school glue that comes in a screw tube. You don't need much - just enough to keep it in place and it washes out later.
