Good Friday Morning All!!!! I'm making this lap quilt for a family member. I think it needs a border...but what color would you add and wider or thinner ???

Oh my, that's a lovely fabric and a great pattern for it!
I think you could do just about anything for the border -- pick up any of the colors, and go narrow or wide. The first thing that leaps to my mind would be a narrow inner strip of the dark purple and then a wider border of mid green or blue. But you could also use one of the rose/burgundy colors. |
Love the fabric and the quilt. As Toolazy said, 'Just aout anything. Does the family member have a favorite color? I think asking for their preferance would be my solution. My go to favorite for framing a quilt is the double border as described by Toolazy.

Male or female? This may help in the color choice. puples for her browns for him. But I'm with the others anything would be great.

Beautiful fabric. I like using the darker colors for borders, because they seem to make the quilt "pop" and because the borders are usually the first to get soiled and the darker colors help hide that.

I think I would find a deep turquiose for a thin border first and then a deep violet for a wider one after that!

If you have enough fabric left to make your border I would add a 1" black inside border and then use your fabric to frame it. This would pick up the black that is already in the fabric.

i would pic a color in the darker fabric.

Agree with previous posts that almost any color could be picked out from the fabric. I would go with something the recipient's decor or what you see them wearing often.

If you want your quilt to "float" use a narrow border of your background fabric then pick up another color in a wider border.
