When I need a color, I look for an on-line shop that carries the Moda marble line or another line of TOT fabrics. Even Connecting Threads has come out with a line of TOT fabrics to coordinate with their prints. I order those a bunch so that I have a good selection of colors to pull from. They have a nice rose colored fabric.

GRAY- try finding different shades

I had a hard time finding browns and medium greenish yellow colors kind of on the mossy gray side. I just sewed pillows for a friend and it took me a while to find the right colors.

I have been thinking about doing this but was unsure how it would hold up to numerous washes.

I agree, turquoise is hard to find! I'm obsessed with it right now and I'm on the hunt!
