I'm getting ready to paint and organize my sewing room. Not sure what color to go with. Right now it is just white. It has one large window in it....but not a very big room.....about 10X9 . What would you suggest? Don't think I want to go to bright. What colors are you sewing rooms?

mine is a beige http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-87898-1.htm it is darker than shows in the pic

If I had one, I'd paint it white semi-gloss. The more light you have, the better, and the semi-gloss won't absorb any of your light....it will reflect it.
Just my opinion. Carol B |
I wish I had one! If I did, I'd probably go with a cream, light buttery yellow or other very pastel color. Anything else would probably be too distracting for me.

My quilt room is very small (7x8), with 2 large windows and much of the wall space is occupied with drawers and racks. For me, White was the only possible choice.
My kids had 'captains' beds, with drawer under. All the drawer units became fabric storage when they were gone from home. In a previous sewing room (20x24, boy do I wish I had that one now!), I used kitchen cabinets and counters other people had replaced. Unless you have a very small stash, the background color may not matter. |
I've always been told to be careful what color you use if you're matching fabric colors. I know artists don't use color on walls. I would probably get a "clean" bright white and then let your fabric be your splash of color. JMHO I have a tiny room the same size as yours. Right now mine is "China Doll" which has just a hint of beige in it and at night even with 4 lamps in there, I can't see...of course, that may be my "old" eyes! LOL

I agree with cream or very pale soft yellow. A very light sage might soothe as well.

Mine is a very pale green called Sea Drops and I love it.
http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-23884-1.htm I would stick with something neutral like cream, a pale creamy yellow or pale green. |

Although mine is blue, I'm thinking the light sage also. |
