I have a red and white top (a variation on a celtic knot) with a red backing. Can I use a white thread for the free motion quilting? I kinda like that the pattern would show up against the red backing. If I do red, then the red would show up in high contrast to the white background of the red knot.
I think I want the white to blend in with the background on the top and not compete with the pattern, but show up on the back to show off the free motion.

ok, I think I have talked myself into white. I see all of the colorful threads and think I should be using them. It feels a bit strange to pass up all these great colorful threads and load up the cart with plain old white. I guess I just need confirmation that white is a good choice for this quilt and not just a boring or safe way out.

I think you could use either one. It really depends on the look you want.
I think I would choose white.... it wouldn't compete with the pattern on the top and it would make an attractive pattern on the back.

What about the clear thread? Monofilamant I think it's called. But can that be used in the bobbin?

wow, your fast! lol.
Thanks, It always helps to get some backup and advice on design choices. There are so many different options that I can get lost sometimes.

Either will be pretty, but I would probably choose white.
