What colour for big stitch?
1 Attachment(s)
I’ve decided this is the next ufo I’ll tackle. It needs quilting in the large white spaces. I want to put a different snowflake design in each space. I’ll do big stitch. But what colour??? I’m stuck on this decision. Would love to hear your suggestions.

If you’re doing a snowflake, why not a pale/icy blue?

Usually with Big Stitch you are wanting the design to really show, right? I would probably match the thread with the red fabric and get a "Toile" look.
|
I might use perle cotton burgundy in the little balls to match the quilt top. I prefer the perle cotton over embroidery thread as it is one strand and colourfast. Pretty top!

Whatever you decide will make it beautiful.

How about a metallic gold and silver thread to give it some sparkle?

I can't answer that question but that is one good looking quilt you've got there. Please post when it's completed. Thanks for posting.

I've looked at this a few times today and couldn't figure what was best. A matching red ... but I think that would be too harsh. White on White ... nice, but wouldn't show your work enough. I think Sue.Ross.8782 has nailed it .... add some bling for sparkly snowflakes. It looks like your black inner border has gold? .... so go for gold bling! Your snowflakes will sparkle and steal the show over the heavy red. Another winning quilt for sure! |
I was going to say a matching burgundy until I read the suggestion for silver and gold metallic snowflakes. I bet that would really sing!

OhCanada ... I hope that with our suggestions for a gold bling thread,
that there actually is something that is quiltable, to do the job! ..... but I have no idea! |
