Strips are great for making 9 patch quilts also! They can be set in a variety of ways, so you have lots of possibilities!

I've seen miller's crossing done in ginghams and plaids. It looked amazing and I wanted to try it but didn't have enough so I settled on regular fabric. We'd love to see pics of whatever you chose though!

You can also do a brick quilt by cutting your strips in 3 1/2" by 7 1/2" blocks. Sew together alternating strips so they look like a brick wall. Add a 3 1/2" by 3 1/2" block on the ends of alternationg rows so the bricks don't they don't stack one on top of the other. I also liked the idea of a pin wheel quilt. You could use a tiny polka dot for they background.

It sounds as if it could work with a pattern I saw called "brick on a brick".
