I am doing a dryer sheet scrappy quilt and in amongst my scraps are hundreds of triangles. (I used to cut far too many pieces for quilts!) Does anyone have a suggestion on what I can do with them? I am a visual learner so a picture would help also.

Bonnie Hunter wrote that tutorial above, it is addicting! I've used the foundation paper method (further down on her page) that doesn't require a fabric foundation and I really like it.

Pin wheels, carpenter's star with hst, various star blocks use triangles....have fun.....create:)

Sew two together for a HST and square it up.
Then you have a whole world of possibilities!

Place the triangle in the center of the dryer sheet, and sew strips around them :D:D:D

I like Ocean Waves - I'm making one with 1" triangles, but you can make them any size you like and it's still pretty.

Some of the HST's are two "light" fabrics or two "dark" fabrics sewn together and the rest are made of one "light" and one "dark."

Mine is from Civil War reproductions, and there wasn't as much contrast in some of the quilts from that time, so I'm being pretty random about my color choices.

If you like doing hand work, you might like to take your triangles to your tv chair and work on them. Every now and then, take a batch to the ironing board and press them and trim them to the same size square. :)

WOW! 1" triangles! I think I'm going to have to lay down with a cold compress. Gives me a headache just thinking about it. I'll bet it's going to be stunning when completed, though. You must have tons of patience!

Oops, I'm sorry - it's 1" squares... sheesh... old-timers' or a brain freeze.

It's a lot easier the way I'm doing them - I'm using Triangulations. Sew on the dotted lines, cut on the solid lines, press them open, remove the paper, sew them together. Starting from scraps would be a nightmare for me - I can't sew HST's for beans. :(

yep, i did an black and white "Odd Orange" string quilt and used orange triangles for the corners of the blocks.

I have a box that I throw mine into - all sizes and colours - hoping that someday I will use them all in a project.

I watched a video online on The Quilt Show with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims and they featured and interviewed Edyta Sitar. She demonstrated her techniques from her books and one of them was called 'Triangles'. She was amazing and creative - very inspirational. She discussed scrappy Triangle quilts and how to arrange them so that they sparkle - even using that odd coloured/printed triangle that you aren't sure would work. I am gong to try to get her book - would love to take a class from her!!!
