I have somewhere between 7 and 9 yards of minkee(not sure if spelled right). Is it easy to cut with rotary cutter or does it stretch too much? What can I make with it? Have you used it for backings and if so, does it quilt easily on a longarm. I would like to put together a bunch of baby quilts out of it for charity. Are there any tricks to using it that I should be aware of? Thank you, all.

I've used it as a 4" wide border on baby quilts. Have not done any quilting on it. Just did SITD. I do remember my LQS advising to use a slightly larger stitch when sewing it. I use my walking foot. Also I remember that it cut easily, but little bits pilled off until I got it all sewn up.

A few years ago I made a baby quilt with minkee. Rotary cutting is fine but I do not remember cutting it in layers. Biggest tip is before you sew a seam, flick the raw edge with your fingernail. Lots of fuzz comes off and be sure and clean your machine when you are finished. Lots of people use it for the backing of baby quilts and I have never heard of any problems with it or in the quilting process. Enjoy making those baby quilts.

I have used it a few times for baby quilts, but I did it on my machine. I bought a bunch more to finish two quilts for my teenage nephews... but this time I am doing it on a frame. I found FMQ to be easy, as long as I used a silicon mat to slide it around.

It makes the most fabulous backing for a quilt.

I agree. At a quilt expo, they used bamboo batting with minkee. It made for the most supple, soft blanket. I LOVE the way it feels.

I watched a woman making a quilt out of Minkee with a satin back and a wide satin binding, it was really pretty. She did not quilt it at all as the Minkee is so stretchy, but the backing kind of gives it some stability.

I love minkee, so cuddly!

I recently used Minkee for the backing of a baby quilt. I quilted it on a long arm. It was so much easier than I expected. The important advise that I got was to pin the selvage ends to the canvas. The bonus of Minkee is that it's hard to see your stitches, thus making it very forgiving.

I love to quilt it on my machine, it is so smooth.
