I feel like most everyone else. I like it. It isn't a "show stopper" but I would bet there are some stories behind it. You might ask her where some of those fabrics came from. Any of my 4 grown sons would be happy to have it. It looks warm and cozy and that's all they care about. You can quilt it and send it to me!!! LOL

I am going to divide it into shawl-width pieces and applique vines, leaves, and flowers on it. I will then quilt, add a yarn fringe on each end, and give them to my three sisters, keeping one for myself!! Christmas!! Using all solids for vine, leaves, and flowers the background sqs. will be perfect! What do the rest of you think of this idea? I think this is a brilliant idea! You people are so clever! |

This is the kind of quilt I would put in my car to use if it gets cold, or if your car 'dies' and you need it for warmth.
Or keep it for a quilt for the park, beach, etc. I make scrappy string quilts exactly for the purposes above to give to my kids. They are nice and big and if something spills on it, most likely it isn't noticeable and can be laundered. The grand kids love em. If your MIL comes to visit and you have prior notice, just fold it up, maybe drape it over some furniture or railing so that she can see it. warm quilt hugs, sue in CA |
Looks like something that I would do if I needed to get rid of some of my stash.
Sometimes the grand kids would pick a scrappy, over one I spent a lot of time on. No quilt is to ugly to keep you warm. ;) |
Well when winter sets in and if you get as cold as I did last year, you will be wanting that quilt. I had a heated mattress pad and still begged hubby too get more blankets and put over my legs and feet cause they were so cold. I thought I would freeze too death before winter got over.

This is a beautiful quilt, and apart of your childrens history, If you don't like it, finish it and put it away for you kids, make sure you document the history of it for them. God bless.

I really like it, what you would call an attractive ugly. I do not like the border. Try a narrower piece of very small dark print in black, navy. If you still do not like it after finishing, display it in the BR or LR for a few weeks and then replace it with another. Then everyone is happy unless....she makes you another one.

Did your MIL make it? I kinda like it and it will probably never wear out.
