I have a Pineapple Blossom started from quiltville.com. A lot of the fabrics were really pretty ugly but the uglyness sort of goes away in the design of that block.
Another quilt I made with all the ugly fabrics I could find was a log cabin. If I remember right I cut the strips for it at 2 inches. Remember, if it's still ugly you haven't cut it small enough! |

This is what you do with everything and anything you have. There was nothing too ugly to go into this quilt.

You could dye everything to get it to blend better!

I agree, If you cut them into strips and add them all together, they take on a beautiful scrappy look :D:D:D

And remember what Bonnie says... if it is still ugly, you haven't cut it small enough!

I'll bet you could do the same thing and it would be really pretty. Click on Search then type in Scrappy and just see what comes up. If you look closely at some of the fabric used in scrappy quilts you'll be surprized at how ugly it is yet in when you put a bunch together it turns out to be gorgeous.

If the fabric is really, I mean really ugly, cut it into long strips & make a rug out of it!

One of the easiest quilts to do would be a D9P. Make your squares large, at least five or six inches and make your centre square black. You'll be amazed at how those ugly fabrics will all of a sudden look really good together. The black will just bring the unifying factor. This may even become your favourite quilt. Happy scrappy stitching.

I always check out the back of fabrics too! Some fabrics are quite soft and beautiful on the back and work in well with your colour choices.
