Another discussion recently related to speciality thread.
What do you consider to be "speciality thread"
With the many threads available, how do we categorize it?
What is your opinion?

Basically metallic, nylon or poly, borderline multicolored, maybe silk or other different material.

do you consider 100% poly regular sewing weight that we find in all the stores as speciality or
cotton wrapped poly as speciality.

Leaving only 100% cotton as non speciality.
What about the size of the thread.

Where is the base line from which we start categorizing.

to me it would be metallic or anything couched

My opinion, it's when I need to use my little mesh covering do hickey to cover the thread- like metallics, so it will sew correctly.

And then there is various wts of thread too.. :D:D:D
Maybe they should mention what "is" allowable and not leave it open to interpretation

I'd consider the shiny Rayon thread, the rayon ombre, metallic & clear polyester to all be specialty threads. But the LA users would probably be a better source of info.

Holice, I was thinking more about invisible thread as speciality i don't think i'd consider regular wrapped poly as anything unusual.
