It seems every time I try to iron anything small, especially seam binding I am always burning my fingers, some times more than others....what do you do to keep from doing this....Has anyone tried the thermal thimbles....
|
I bought the smaller Dritz iron for that. Makes burning yourself less likely to happen. They can be fairly expensive but if you use a coupon from Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or JoAnn's they aren't so bad.

I must be doing something wrong...rarely burn my fingers when ironing...lol.

I have heard some of the gals on here say they wear a Klutz glove ..one of the ones you use with a rotary cutter. A wooden chop stick works well too...No fun to have burnt fingers...keep a bowl of ice water close by..I use one of those when I am working with the hot glue gun too...crafty_linda_b

Smaller iron. I love my Dritz mini-press.

I haven't burned any fingers since I stopped using steam. It was the hot steam that was burning my fingers. I do have some little protectors, but it's just be one more thing to have to keep track of.

Use the mini iron, tape your fingers, have a wooden skewer stick handy at the ironing board...especially if you are using steam....

I use a chop stick and a small craft iron on little pieces.

My little Clover mini iron works great. Haven't burned my fingers yet.

I rarely burn my fingers. I have longish nails most of the time and that helps. I also use my seam ripper as a stiletto or a chop stick. What I tend to burn is my stomach (yeah, I know, don't sew naked--TMI) and my hands (used when I run out of board under the fabric). Will I ever learn??

have someone else do the ironing for you....lol

I have an ironing glove. Saw it demonstrated on a Fons & Porter program. Ordered it on ebay -- $13.00. Hairdressers use them also when using curling irons. They work great.
