I toss in the scrap pile and eventually use for string quilts...sometimes I'll use for scrappy binding
I kept putting mine in a basket and now the basket is full and I haven't used any of it. I don't see any reason for me to keep it or keep saving it.
It could always be saved in case a repair is needed (if you're keeping the quilt).
I save it and make different colors on my scrap or kiddie quilts.
I like different colors for those quilts. |
String Quilts and /or scrappy bindings. Also use the strips for Doll quilts.
I save my leftovers and then when I am doing a small charity quilt I put them together to do a scrapy binding. I cut mine at 2 1/2 inches.
Save some for small projects. I use 2 1/4 and I have the Simplicity Bias Tape maker. I can iron out strips, trim and change to double fold for sashing in small projects. Since I mostly use straight binding, I can also shove the binding the serger with a cording foot and make straight piping for valences, and any other straight use. Pocket trim is a small straight piece.
I sew them all together and made scrappy binding, I always have a roll for scrap quilts.
I also use 2.25" and they are bias so I don't want to use them for strip quilt projects. I guess I should get them organized and use them on some mini quilts or mug rugs or something.
I use 2 ½" and leftovers get rolled up and put into a bin and used on scrappy quilts. My penguin quilt I recently finished had quite a few pieces of "leftovers" used on it's binding.
