What do you do with those little pieces of fabric, that you cut off. I am talking about pehaps 1 to 11/2 by maybe 3 to 6 inches.
I hear talk about scrappy quilts, and I have been saving these, but, not enough of 1 fabric to make for any design in a quilt. Does anyone know if anyone has made a quilt or table runner with just pieces of various sized in a multitude of different fabric patterns? |
Sure, tons of pictures of scrappy quilts in all different colors and patterns of fabrics have been posted here. The queen of scrappy quilts is Bonnie Hunter of quiltville. Go to her website for lots of inspiration www.quiltville.com
You can make a scrappy log cabin with your 1" wide pieces and need to supplement them with some strips that are longer then 3 1/2". For that you just need to seperate value (dark, medium, light). Look at this quilt by QB member Ninnie for another great inspiration for scrap quilts. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-50718-1.htm |
There are people that are looking for 1-1/2 inch squares for postage stamp charm quilts - or scraps that they can cut a square that size out of.

One of the ladies on here sews them to 3" adding machine tape. She said she cuts the paper into one yd strips then sews the fabric to it, trims it along the edges then when she decides what she wants to make with it she cuts it to the appropriate length and makes her quilts.
I'm saving selvages to do that with. |
If it is under 2" I toss it in a bag. It makes good stuffing for pet beds and other small projects.
