I use my daughters' old Bubble Tape containers for my really old ones. But it takes a lot longer for my blades to get to that point since I bought an electric rotary blade sharpener. It was nearly $70, but it really works and gives my blades new life...a very important thing for a mother of two preteen quilters-in-training.

I put all my blades in a old prescription bottle and put all bent needles and pins in with my used insulin needles Tape everything up together and mark with medical supplies and set them out in our garbage

I have a small sharpes container (needle disposable medical container). It should take me many, many years to fill it up, with both my blades and needles/pins.

I have a pecking order -- first I use them for fabric, next I use them for paper. After that, I put them in old holders and store them.
How do you safely dispose of the old blades? Norma |

has anyone had any luck with the sharpeners that you can buy at Joanns? I go through blades pretty quickly.

I have an old metal coffee can with a slit in the lid. I've been dropping the used ones in there for quite a while. I've tried several rotary blade sharpeners, but they haven't worked for me. I haven't tried the electric one because I was afraid it wouldn't work and didn't want to waste $70 on it. I think I'll take the lid off the can and count how many I have and send them to the Sharpe place. However, I can still buy 5 Fiskar blades at Walmart for $15 +.

I will watch to see if anyone else has an opinion on the blade sharpeners.
