One of the reasons I love my treadle machine. It purrs even when the power is out. Just makes me think I have gone back in time.

After reading all these comments I guess I should work faster at reconditioning the treadle I got recently. I usually get out a camping lantern, listen to a portable radio and read or knit or crochet.

I just take a nap.

Have a large generator, what will power a lot will power a little but not the reverse, that's why I got a big one that does the lot.

I usually read. Sit by a window until it gets too dark to see. :D

Me too. I also make hot chocolate out on the covered porch with a gas stove to stay warm by the fire with. Still, I'm glad when the power comes back on. ;)

We don't loose power too often but when we do I go about a block to my daughters house. They have a generator for power plus a pellet stove for heat.

In January, 2005, hubby & I were without power for 9 days!
I kept a journal of each hour & events of what we did, what we ate... etc. No heat, we closed off rooms & stayed in one room. Hubby was able to use a boat battery to hook up computer for an hour a day. He even played his guitar & sang to me.
Looking back & reading the journal... we were lucky!
So far this year, we have been lucky! Sure hope it stays that way for us! Sunday the snow was all melted, now we have about 6 inches again. I am so ready for the fresh Spring air!
