Since this is my first Doll Quilt Swap, I am curious to know what everyone does with their adorable Doll Quilts.
I will hang mine in my sewing area. How about you? |
One of mine is hanging in my office above my computer, and the other one is hanging in my sewing room. I have lots of space in my office and my sewing room for more swaps, too. Isn't it fun?

Hanging in my sewing room.
|
In addition to the first question, I would like to know what you're using to 'hang' them? Thank you.

Mine are hanging on my sewing room walls.... I have three (soon to be four) and one from the Japan swap. Hubby is currently building me a bigger sewing room... I need more wall space! LOL
I've used velcro dots to hang mine. :-) |
once I get the spare room straightened up  I will be hanging them up in there, I also have my sewing and scrapbook stuff in there.
|
i hang them for display also.
|
So far, I have three beautiful
little doll quilts & they are all hanging On the wall in my sewing room. I love to look at them. I too, am hoping to add more of them in the future!! :D :D :D :D |
One of mine is hanging on my wall quilt rack in the living room and the rest are hanging in my sewing room on a line with cute little clothes pins.
I love them all!!!!! |
Where's the pictures of everybody's displaying?
My mom suggested that I put mine in large picture frames. I just haven't found what I want yet for frames. |
I have some wall space in my sewing room but haven't decided yet....started with the idea I would get a baby doll and donate quilt and doll to toys/tots but don't know if I want to part with it. My ONLY GGD has lots from daughter hand quilted yet. She doesn't need them LOL

I hang mine in my sewing room and also plan on displaying some in my doll bed that my dad made for me when I was a little girl (probably 6 yrs old or so). It is old. I need to refinish it first. Probaly just some paint. Now that I am retired I may have time for those fun things.I bought a porcelain doll about 20 years ago that is dressed in a white christening gown and I have also made a lot of small cloth dolls. My room with the computer has a teddy bear, doll theme. I must be reverting back to my childhood days. My granddaughters love the room. They are 5 and 11. They know which ones they can play with.
|
Right now mine are just laying on a dresser so I can pet them when I walk by. Once we move, I'll hang them on the room that will be my sewing room. I'd hang them now, but with cement walls in this house, it's kind of hard. Not putting holes in the walls or marking up the walls because I rent from the landlords from hell.

I have mine hanging from skirt holders on a pull out lamp thingie. They are so cute and fun to look at.

I made 24 doll quilts for the church bazaar. Only 6 of them sold, so I brought them home and gave them to my cats.
|
I made a sleave for them and put a dowl stick to hang them.
|
Cement walls??? Why not use some of those 'Command strips', you know the ones that 'are there when you want them, and gone when you don't.' Then you can use them where you want them.
|
I give some of mine to little girls for there dolls. They love them and they are the right size. I also use them as table toppers. Aren't they fun to make ?
|
Would someone please tell me about the doll quilt swap. This sounds like fun.

**(just read this and it reads as if I'm a snotty person. I'm really not! Honest! I just have some VERY expensivie pieces that I'm not willing to sacrifice to the fact that they could or would be destroyed/ruined in some fashion. Yes, they are all insured, but that's besides the point.) |
Hi, I have an child's antique rocking chair in our living room. One of my doll quilts is drapped on the back and I have a home-made rag doll siiting in the chair. It gives a noce effect when you walk into the room and is a conversation piece. I love making the doll quilts and plan to make a slew of them for Christmas gifts.

Chamby go to the October Doll Quilt Swap thread and you can see the links for all of the Doll Quilt Swaps.
Basicly you post on the thread if you want to join the swap. The guidelines are listed on the first page. Then Chele will partner you with someone and you make a little quilt between 12" x 12" up to 24" x 24" and any size in between. Then you send your quilt to the person you were partnered with and they send theirs to you. A lot of people add a little some thing fun in with the quilt when they send them but you don't have to. It is fun! And you get back a beautiful little quilt to enjoy! Here is the link for the Oct Swap http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/25678.page Enjoy looking at all the Doll Quilts!! They are amazing!! |
I am jumping in here to tell you I received my Sept doll quilt from Moosegirl and it is super. The colors and material choices are perfect for me.....Of course I did tell her my favorite colors and that I loved teddy bears and cats...well, she also sent a handsome teddy and some sweet cat material.
I sure hope she likes my choices as well as I liked hers. I will try to post pictures soon. Not sure about doing it but Chele has offered help so I will certainly try. I read this page and am just slightly jealous of those of you who have wonderful sewing rooms and places to display these lovely little works of art. I sew in my bedroom and it's too long a story, but sewing there has worked out. So I am going to be like tirnhi, and just put them on my dresser and pet them as I go by. Well, I do have a guest room where all my bears live and I have one little quilt under a bear on the bed. Maybe he can sit on a few more???? All the little quilts I've seen are just marvelous....you are all wonderful quilters..........Swimmer Girl |
I have mine hanging on the wall in my sewing room. Ashamed to say I used little push pins for now.
|
We have a miniatures (doll house) org here and I bet they would love to buy some little quilts!
|
I'm like Terri, I have to pet my doll quilts on a daily basis. I have so many gems. They're going on the walls as soon as I am done petting. I love seeing the backs, binding, etc. I turn them over and over and wish I could quilt as well as my partners. These doll quilts are so special. I love that everyone is thinking of ways to use them! As long as I don't have to get some scary dolls...
|
Thank you for the ideas for displaying small quilts.

Tirnhi, I was talking about how to hang little quilts on a cement wall, not expensive paintings. I wouldn't depend on those Command strips for anything heavy or anything that cound break if they fell down. Sorry if you thought that I thought they were the answer-all.
