I wasn’t sure where to post this, but I am joining a few swaps here lately. These are my first quilting swaps, but I have done many many scrapbooking swaps (as a participant and hostess), so I know how much work goes into doing a swap. I like to include a little gift for my hostesses as a thank you for their time spent swapping our items, but since I haven’t done any quilting swaps before, I am wondering if anyone could tell me what they usually include. I’d love some ideas!!

Thanks!
Rachel

Well how about a fat quarter pack with a ruler and matching thread. :-D

I have included a block just for the hostess. Not everyone can get every block, but I figure the hostess deserves an extra.

Usually, I will give a few fat quarters.A quilter can never have enough fabric.LOL

Thanks for starting this thread. I think the hostess should get a surprise (quilting related, fat quarters, pins, pincushions, etc.)

I am sooooo glad you mentioned this! I have been thinking about it, but how do we get the full name and address to send it? I would love to send the hostess something.

i have sent a FQ or two. i have also taken items out of my own notions and passed them on.(a new seam ripper,or spool of thread). i have also made an extra swap item up,wether it be a block or charms,or what ever your swapping.
I know it is not something that everyone can afford to do. it is something that is not expected, but appreciated.

i usually try to throw in a fq or some item that goes with the swap we are doing...usually a fq though

If it's not a swap where you are mailing directly to the hostess, I am sure you could just ask the host for their address. As stated a hostess gift is not a requirement at all, but I am sure it is appreciated.

Thanks everyone so much for all your ideas, I was kind of thinking along the same lines. Some fabric, charms, or an extra block or two. I just wanted to see what everyone else's thoughts were too.

Cheers!

These are all great ideas. I'm glad for a nudge. I didn't think of a gift for the hostess but it makes sense.

I have hosted many swaps before ( not here but on scrapbooking related sites) as well as been in LOTS of swaps and it is a nice little surprise to get something from the lades every now and then.

Anything at all is appreciated. Fat 1/4, a charm, a notion, ....the list can go on and on. iT doesn't even ahve to be quilting related, a nice note pad with pen from Micahels for $1.00 is fun to get and give. Aome note pads with their initial on it (also from the dollar bin). Again anything is nice to get.

Happy Quilting
LaQuita

I usually include some FQ's, thread, extra blocks or a charm pack.

ckcowl 07-22-2010 10:36 AM

when you join the swap the hostess will send you an address to send the swap blocks to...that is also where you send the little gift if you choose to do so...an extra block, fq's what ever...

I wish I had known. I thought about it but didn't know how to find out. Will do these things from now on.
