I am addicted to old radio shows - found a website that you can listen for free - the old dramas and mysteries are my favorite. Otherwise, I like to listen to talk radio while quilting sometimes I just plug in a movie and listen to it. Time flies while I am having fun...

mollymct 08-14-2010 11:48 AM

What's the website, Otis? I like to listen to audiobooks, if my project is pretty "mindless," music if I need to concentrate more. I also like podcasts by The Moth--short stories that the authors perform, autobiographical.

I love your avatar, btw. The ears!! Love it.

sharon b 08-14-2010 12:07 PM

 I listen to the Judge shows  Peoples Court, Judge Judy, the such... if I am not listening to that I like music from the 70's and 80's

great aunt jacqui 08-14-2010 12:10 PM

I'm a country music fan and an HGTV addict so I can tune in to either when I'm sewing away!

Our new house didn't give me an antenna wire in my sewing room so my handy hubby is running a line from our bedroom (next door) to my sewing room. For some reason the master bedroom had two hookups.

lots2do 08-14-2010 01:18 PM

the voices in my head? Sorry, couldn't resist. Sometimes nothing, sometimes a favorite CD or the radio.

cminor 08-14-2010 01:20 PM

I listen to Lost on NetFlex :) No need to really pay attention - I have seen them all so many times - but it is more for noice in the back ground. Every so often I get pulled into it then back to quilting!

seamstome 08-14-2010 01:55 PM

I listen to murder mysteries audiobooks through Audible. I listen to ones that are humorous. Kind of like Evanovich. "Sex, Murder and a double Latte", "I Dreamed I Married Perry Mason" and "Solomon and Lord" Those are some of the ones that I did...most of them I have "read" most of the series.

They are mindless but pass the time.

amandasgramma 08-14-2010 02:07 PM

I found old time radio online at www.radiolovers.com!!!! FUN!

dotcomdtcm 08-14-2010 02:12 PM

Sound track from Mamma Mia & I sing along!!

So funny, Lots2do! That is my response. I listen to my thoughts more often than the radio.

Aunt Retta 08-14-2010 02:27 PM

I like to listen to country music--old country music 70,80 90, or I put in an old well loved movie that the pictures just come to mind as I hear it. I will play one movie over and over all day!

You beat me to it. I listen to myself breathing and the pleasant sounds of the sewing machine. (And maybe the central A/C running).

mawmawbeve_60 08-14-2010 02:35 PM

70's music...all the way...

mygirl66 08-14-2010 02:41 PM

Country music.....all the time!

fuzzymom 08-14-2010 02:47 PM

I love to listen to smooth jazz on the computer.
Instrumental/vocal. "Just the right sound."

sasseyib 08-14-2010 03:08 PM

I usually put western music on.

katier825 08-14-2010 03:21 PM

Usually just my hubby asking "are you sewing again?"

When I'm home alone or cramped in the bedroom, I listed to a variety of pop/rock music. Tina Turner is great to FMQ to!

CorgiNole 08-14-2010 03:39 PM

So far I've been working my way through the box set of Jeeves & Wooster. I generally put a DVD in that I've watched before so that I don't get too sucked in to the story.

Cheers, K

mrspete 08-14-2010 03:40 PM

I have my little player/radio sitting beside me at the machine, but I forget to turn it on or put a cd in it. I love Southern Gospel Music, Country Music, Old Heavy Metal, Easy Listening.....not hard to entertain. If it is really rockin' I get carried away and sew everything, my shirt in the mix, hahahaha.

Blessings,
Ruth

Smooth Jazz, musical sound tracks, contemporary christian and Charmed. It depends on the mood I want to be in.

ditto. I very seldom have any radio/music on when I sew. I just have great conversations with myself. I always get a great answer that way.

icon17 08-14-2010 03:46 PM

Love Jazz, Old time country, blues, old hymms.

BellaBoo 08-14-2010 04:07 PM

I usually sew in silence. It's so relaxing to have no noise at all other then the sewing machine and my dog snoring.

Quilter Day-by-Day 08-14-2010 04:16 PM

My husband bought me a tv for my sewing room last christmas because I like it on not so much to watch but just for the noise. Then when I need a break from sewing I watch a little.

wvdek 08-14-2010 04:29 PM

It depends on my mood. I may listen to a ball game, put on an old movie whose lines I know by heart and can tell you the scene; sometimes Easy Listening, Beautiful Music, on ocassion some opera, Southern Gospel, sometimes oldie western, but mostly the birds and chickens and nature. I like the quiet. You can 'hear' more. As they say, "Silence is Golden". I am quite comfortable with the 'voices' in my head.

MomtoBostonTerriers 08-14-2010 04:31 PM

I turn on the television in my craft room and listen to all kinds of detective shows. I've heard them all so I don't have to see the show to know what's going on and Who Done It.

Jingle 08-14-2010 05:02 PM

When I'm in my sewing room piecing, I have HGTV on, seldom look or pay attention, just like noise. When quilting at dining table I have talk radio on, don't pay attention to that either. I just like noise, sometimes listen to news and weather when its on.

mrspete 08-14-2010 05:04 PM

See? I'm not the only radio baby. I listen to everything.
Blessings,
Ruth

grannyQ 08-14-2010 05:08 PM

I like to listen to country music, or old time 50's music on the local radio station.

maryb119 08-14-2010 05:09 PM

I like classic rock and some country music. Sometimes, I just want quiet.

Suzanne57 08-14-2010 05:25 PM

We have a TV station here that plays the old old shows like Leave it to Beaver, Mike Hammer, Run for Your Life, Robin Hood, My Little Margie, Life With Elizabeth, etc shows from the 50s B&W. Since they play the same episodes a couple of times a week, I don't have to pay that much attention to follow along.

retired2pa 08-14-2010 05:30 PM

I listen to myself talk to myself or I'll talk to my "quality control manager" (my cat...LOL). I discovered I work better without a radio, CD's, TV or anything else that's distracting (I think that includes my DH...LOL).

Donna Mae 08-14-2010 05:33 PM

50's- 60's or old country music.

Numa 08-14-2010 05:48 PM

Sometimes I listen to silence, other times I have the tv on a retro channel or a DVD playing. Default listening is "Serenity". I love old radio shows but my husband yells about those. Says they are "too dramatic". I told him they had to be, there were no pictures!! LOL

littlehud 08-14-2010 07:14 PM

I pull up Pandora on my computer and listen to 60s music if I'm quilting and country if I'm piecing.

txwildflower 08-14-2010 07:48 PM

I listen to classical music. If I have on music with singing --- I can't hear myself think!!!!!!!LOL

zyxquilts 08-14-2010 08:15 PM

I usually have the TV on. :D

Twisted Quilter 08-14-2010 08:18 PM

Oldies (70's/80's), blues, country, just depends on my mood. Oh, and sometimes nothing at all.
