My mother-in-law was viewing quilts that were being auctioned of for the West Texas Rehab Center in Abilene TX. In the quilt's summary statement it said, "One Needle". What exactly does that mean? Does anybody know? I'm curious too!

I googled and this is what I found:
(Each quilt is referred to as a "one-needle quilt," since only one woman quilts an entire piece.)

Curious, not heard of that term before. Hope someone has an answer.

It sounds like a term the Amish use. I thought maybe it was when just one woman does the quilting.

thank you for the info. I had never heard that saying before.

I suppose that it would be a selling point for the quilt as all of the quilting being done by one person would probably be very nearly identical. Although I find I quilt with shorter stitches when I am relaxed than if I am not.

thanks for replying to this. I wasn't sure. It's nice to know we have so many lovely quilters that are so knowledgeable. Thanks everyone!
