Under the binding for me please....no matter what design or panto it is. Prefer to have my bases covered.

I am not a longarm quilter, but as a customer of one, I prefer to have e2e designs go to or even over the edge. I picked up a quilt once that ended a few inches in from the edge. I freemotion quilted the remainder myself.

I too have gone right to the edge or slightly over. I also stitch down the sides right at the edge before starting the pantogram to avoid the edges folding over. I see nothing wrong with doing it that way. it's not like it covers up a LOT of the design.

I start at the edge of the quilt or a little off and end the same way. There is no problem with going off the edge. If you try to stop at the 1/4" mark, you are just creating more work for yourself and adding to the time it takes.

I don't do too many E2E patterns but when I do I find I'd rather go right to the edge if not over a smidgeon so I know the edge will be hidden by the binding. If I have a border on the quilt then I go as close to the border edge as possible.

I do not long arm period. So I have a totally unprofessional opinion. Seems to be, if the design continues to the "edge", the binding would add a little security to the thread and help prevent it from becoming loose down the road.

Me, too, too. I do not want any loose threads peeking out after washing.
