This is probably something so obvious to everybody else, but whenever you all say pp or PP, I don't know what it is.

Paper Picecing  :D:D:D

FinelyFabricated 02-02-2010 12:06 PM

It stands for paper piecing. It's a technique for creating blocks where you stitch on paper and trim as you go to 1/4 inch seam allowances. It makes it easier to piece odd shaped and small pieces.

quiltswithdogs 02-02-2010 12:08 PM

oh boy, how silly of me... thanks, Amma and Finely.

I probably didn't think of that since I hate paper piecing. When I'm ready to try it again, I'll come here and ask advise.

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 02-02-2010 12:16 PM

Try the February BOM. It is PP and easy. It makes a really pretty block.

I'm over 50 and it means something totally different to me (usually requires hurried movement) lol

quiltswithdogs 02-02-2010 04:03 PM

Mad.... you are soooo funny! At 60, I mustn't laugh too hard at you or else it'll be pp time for me and I don't mean paper piecing either!

marsye 02-02-2010 04:42 PM

Sometimes its what the dog has to do when he goes to the door.....LMAO! sorry!

brushandthimble 02-02-2010 05:10 PM

Don't make me laugh to hard.....:)

pam1966 02-02-2010 06:26 PM

Until I started coming to this board, PP always meant "previous poster" to me.

I love paper piecing. My teacher taught me but she had to approve the pattern first. I found an easy one - candy corn. The more pieces the harder it is. The candy corn only uses 7.

sewgull 02-04-2010 07:14 PM

Tell us more about Candy Corn pattern. I would like to learn to paper piece.

sewgull 02-04-2010 07:18 PM

So many abravations used on this site, and I have no idea of what they mean. Ex. DH - dear, dumb, darling husband which is correct?
I love this site and everyone seems like they are my best friends.

KarenSimon 02-04-2010 07:41 PM

Here are some examples of the Candy Corn paper piecing pattern. The first one is the one I like best.

sewgull: DH is for any one you choose. They all work for different situations. And there is one other one I use sometimes.

There are many acronyms for quilting. Just do a google search: acronyms quilt

Pickles 02-04-2010 07:50 PM

sewgull here is a good site for learning all the abbreviations

What I liked about the first website is that one can click where indicated and be provided with a paper-piecing primer....very simple!
