I know this is a dumb question, but is it a computer program or a program for a computer sewing machine. I am looking for a computer program that I can design quilts on.

I only have a regular sewing machine. No fancy designs or quilting patterns. Just the basics. Any ideas?

EQ is a software programme for designing quilts (Electric Quilt Company, EQ.com) EQ6 is the most recent version, each one has had more capabilities than the previous ones. The results can have templates of each block printed out, or foundation patterns. You can colour in your designs, or add more realistic fabrics to colour them, including scanning your own fabric to use in your colour palette. It is not a programme for designing embroidery on a sewing machine that has an embroidery module.

EQ is a wonderful quilt designing program. It sounds like just what you are looking for.

They also put out a much easier and more basic software program for beginners; Quilt Design Wizard. It's also much more inexpensive. I haven't tried the easy one, but I probably would have if I had known I wouldn't be using EQ6 much. Just my own opinion. :-)

If you are only wanting to create quilt blocks and borders the Quilt design Wizard would probably be your best bet. If you want way more bells and whistles and can afford it, EQ6 is awesome :D:D:D

I bought both. I never use Quilt design Wizard. I use EQ6 on almost every quilt.

I have quilt wizard it was less than $30.00 from Amazon.com and I use it a lot. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the EQ5 or 6 but is a basic program.

I'm new to quilting software and am very happy with EQ6. I did not want to purchase design wizard because eventually, I'll want to use more functions. 6 is something I can grow into. I will tell you that I did purchase the Dear Jane software first since it is much less expensive than the broader EQ programs but it works with the higher versions if you want or as a stand alone program.

Tech support is wonderful there and they are happy to answer your questions to see what is the best fit.
