I have a scrappy jewel box quilt in the quilting machine and I'm working on a wall-hanging of a sea turtle. All applique and fussy, fussy work. So I divide up my time.

A queen size quilt for my best bud at work it has over 800 1/2 square triangle 2 inch squares. I used something like triangles on a roll for it. he chose the pattern out of a book we found together at the thrift store last year when we were in the community with our students. I chose the Shimmering Frost -blue selection from Connecting Threads for it. The wedding is May 26th so I wanted to give myself lots of time :) It will have 63 blocks all totaled and then a small pieced border and then a regular border.

I have two tops I made and two a friend made that I need to quilt on my DSM this weekend so I can turn them in for guild charity collection next week. I doubt I can finsh all four, but hope I can get three done by sandwiching tomorrow night and having Friday off.

I'm working on a quilt a long.

JulieR 04-10-2013 04:55 PM

I'm working my way through Elly Sienkiewicz's Baltimore Elegance blocks. Today is sawtooth day. But let's not talk about that...

sewingsuz 04-10-2013 05:05 PM

I am taking a break. I did to much sewing last week and my hand, wrist and arm hurt for a couple days.

Right now I'm working on my 3rd string quilt for our church's graduates.we have to make 11. 2 haven't even been started yet, 5 are completed and the rest are in various stages of completion. There are only a few of us working on them
The other things I'm working on- things to make for our groups' vendor table at the annual Ladies Retreat for our church. Proceeds go to pay for batting for the quilts.
A 50's dress for the school play and a baby quilt before May 4th. Neither of which has been started yet. Yikes!

I am piecing the top of a Diamond Jubilee Bargello. There are more than 700 separate strips in the top. It seems crazy to me. I just had to buy a pack of 1000 pins to label each fabric strip. Who has room to lay out 108 rows where each row has up to 9 different pieces? This is nuts! (But I am kinda loving it). :p[h=3][/h]

I am working on Jenny Doan's "Falling Charms". It is made with 4 charm packs and a little more than 1 white jelly roll. I needed a pattern that would be quick to make as I am making the quilt for one of my daughter's foster children. This turned out to be a great choice as I can finish the top in 3 days. Also, I like the way the top looks and I think the child will like it also.

I'm on my "retirement" trip, so I have lots of time to just dream as I hand appliqué a red on white Hawaiin quilt top..queen size. When I get home I'm going to ( gasp) machine echo quilt it...don't tell the quilt police!

I am working on an alphabet baby quilt. The letter makes the body of the object the letter stands for. Here are some examples.

I'm still HQ an UFO, but I have 3 childrens quilt for june to start. have fabrics together and patterns ready. My problem is I LOVE the outdoors when the weather is nice, and in New Orleans it has been absolutely wonderful. So Sat and Sun I worked in my yard all day, cut grass, weeded, mulched the veg beds, planted my veg seeds and watched grandkids. But as far as quilting, well if I would get off this site, I could put a few stitches in.

Oh, yeah, its a beautiful quilt and it will be worth all the cussin, bleeding and burns for it. I should have less burns now with small iron. :-) I love seeing what others are working on :-)

I had to look up the pattern. Boy, it looks difficult. But beautiful.

A month ago I bought this panel of fabric with a wine theme. It has squares that look like windows and in each square is some layout of wine bottles, some with glasses, some with grapes. I have been FMQ each square, each bottle, and outlining each. I have to change colors a lot. It has taken a lot of time but I'm almost finished!! I'm making it into a wall hanging and will make a table runner and napkins for our dining room.

I'm working on the farmer's wife quilt paper piecing, copying a simple rail fence quilt I fell in love with at a local quilt show by using the Lil Rascals jelly rolls, a block of the month block from my favorite quilt shop and since my buddy taught me how to crochet - yes, another late in life attempt - I am crocheting a rug with sheets I am tearing up that were purchase at the thrift store. The rug is going to be "shabby chic" by leaving fabric tails hanging out periodicly.

I'm finishing my Japanese Ladies wall hanging for our quilt show May 3rd and 4th in Leesville, La. The border of my wall hanging is a decorative stripe and I have had trouble sewing to get one stripe exactly where I wanted it. Will post picture when it's completed.

lizzy 04-11-2013 03:00 AM

Your patterns are adorable. Good job!

Krystyna 04-11-2013 03:25 AM

I've finished tops for five table runners, two lap quilts, six art quilts, two larger quilts ... now to quilt them!

SandiGrove 04-11-2013 03:40 AM

Busy with hand piecing a queen size quilt for a friends daughters wedding - have 2 weeks to finish plus do the quilting - had thought of doing the mother a quilt - not sure now time running out!

I have a few irons in the fire;
1. The top is completed for my oldest dd, it's a colorful scrappy heart quilt. The balls in her court, when she wants to we'll go out and buy the backing.
2. The top is completed for a quilt that I started many years ago. I have to get off my computer chair and decide what the back is going to be and make it. I've got plenty of fabric to pick from.
3. Yesterday I started making some of these barn blocks that I saw someone posted; http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...ml#post5991969

4. I probably should work on buying a new camera as my puppy chewed up mine a few weeks ago. I could take nice pics that way instead of using my computer!!!

I am working on a long wall hanging using three 12" x 12" panels that I did not like and got sick of handling.

I'm working on a French Roses Quilt (soft edge applique) using Moda "Paris Flea Market" fabrics. This quilt is for my granddaughter's bedroom in her apartment while at college. She designed a "shabby chic" room. Love it.

I am working on a quilt for my MIL's 90th birthday. It will have pictures of all her children and
their families. Have the material and pattern, but getting the right pictures has been the biggest
problem so far! I have till May 20th to have it completed.

Battle Axe 04-11-2013 04:41 AM

Hanging gardens. A pattern I think I saw on this forum. Am using black as the accent.

berryberry 04-11-2013 04:42 AM

I just bought a new machine so I'm learning. I like to have at least 2 or 3 projects going at the same time. When I get to a part which is not working, I sit down and pick up the other. Then when I go back to what wasn't working, I'm able to figure it out.
I'm working on patriotic blocks for a swap, my first mug rug, and quilting a twin size quilt.

Last night I finished Clue #5 of a mystery quilt and then got back to putting my fabric on magazine boards. Tonight I will work on the "boards" again and also have my embroidery unit working on a wall hanging. So many projects I want to do - so little time. Love it when someone starts a thread asking what everyone is working on. Gets me inspired to do more!

I am making a Diamond in the Rough and a Tee shirt quilt for my daughter.

brenwalt 04-11-2013 05:30 AM

Working on an applique "orchid wreath" (whole cloth quilt) and also a large T shirt quilt, plus "quillows" plus terry cloth personalized aprons, plus an embroidered queen size quilt that I'm hand quilting at the rate of about an hour and a half per night. (All this "keeps me off the streets and out of the bars" LOL)

Snooze2978 04-11-2013 05:58 AM

Working on 2 scrappy strip quilts using the blocks from Craftsy BOM March 2012. My scraps keep procreating during the night though. Also working to finish Jinny Beyer's Crystal Star. Up to putting the 5 large sections together to make 1 large wallhanging. 1st paper piecing project ever so I'm really happy its turning out as well as it has.

Have 5 quilts waiting in the wings to be quilted but need to be in the mood. 2 more quilts waiting in the wings to get started. Have the fabrics and pattern pulled.

I'm working on Falling Charms from MSQC latest youtube tutorial. I'm using a charm pak I bought at Big Lots (cheap) and white muslin. Right now I've sewn the blocks together and am trying to square them up. The charms were not cut exactly square and that is giving me trouble. But I'm marching on and I'll see how it turns out in the end. It may have a little wonky look to it, but that's OK. The piecing went fast and this would be a fast and easy quilt if I had started with straight charms. I think from now on, I'll cut my own charms.
