I consider this method chain piecing. Strip piecing is if you are making 9 patch blocks, you sew 3 WOF 2.5" strips together, then cut them so they make 1 row of your block. Just more time efficient.

When you do traditional piecing you cut each piece individually and sew to form a block.. in strip piecing you sew strips then cut blocks or sections of blocks.
