I want to make an apron for my son-loves to cook on grill. What type of fabric do you use? I want it to be a little on the heavy side but not canvasy--does that make sense? Also, are they lined or reversible?
Thanks everyone for your help. Peace-- |
Poplin might be nice. poly/cotton 50/50.

A light weight denim would be great!

I like waffle pique but I can't find it anymore.

You might be able to find some home dec fabrics that are the right weight. I know I made curtains out of something like that.

denim comes in many different weights and colors. i would go to a joanne's and wander through feeling fabrics that catch my eye until i found the one that is (IT) :)

I made one for my son with fabric from Walmart. It had a lot of wildlife, deer, elk, etc all over. It was a big hit.

Saw one this weekend that was made from a pair of overalls and it was cute !!
Can also make a casing down the sides to run the straps, making the neckline adjustable using just one continuous tie. Aprons are Fun !! |
I use cotton and line it. I like them to be reversable. There are some great BBQ and outdoors prints.

I most often use cotton, but a blend would be ok. If I don't feel that the fabric has enough body, I will often line it with the same fabric.
As someone else suggested, light weight denim works and so would some home dec fabrics is they are washable. |
