What fabric would you choose?

I am making a quilt for my brother. The picture panel is going to be in the center and I am going to do 2 borders. I think they will be relatively large borders maybe like 10" wide each since I am trying to make it a twin size 72" wide. The panel is 36" X 44". I was going to do a black inner border to set off the panel. Then I can't decide to go with a brown, or green border for the outer border. What would you think will look the best? I have a couple picture of some different options.
--I like the fabric that looks like a wood board(for an outer boarder) but do you think it will take away from the panel picture? --Then at the corner of each border I want to put one solid block with a deer/wildlife print fabric. --The backing will be camouflage with leaves. Thanks for your opinions! |
I wonder, would a dark brown border or a light brown border look better if I were to go the brown route?
|
I would go with a golden brown and a small heather grey. That would accent the deer.
But, you could go a neutral light blue to pull out the sky. You can audition your fabrics to see which one is the right look you are going for. Have fun and let us see you finished quilt when you are done. OK? |
i love the brown pine cones and green pines to go with that beautiful panel
|
I would stick with fabrics close to the colors currently framing the deer.

What a gorgeous quilt -- I love your first picture!

I would go with a 2 1/2 - 3 inch strip of golden brown, color of the deer so it would frame the panel, and follow with a darker larger pieces that would drape over the sides of the bed. Just a thought. syl

great panel.all options look nice-sorry I can not pick a favorite

I think the wood grine would distract from the branches framing the panel. I think the brown batik, then the last one would be a good choice.

I like the last one
